Travelling from Stansted Airport to Central London

Stansted Airport

Stansted Airport is approximately 50 kilometres from Central London, and is located to the North East of London, just off of the M11 Motorway, close to Bishops Stortford. Travelling to and from the airport is as easy as any other London airport, and the various modes of transport are sign-posted for both Arrivals and Departures around the airport.

Stansted Airport has connections to central London by taxi, bus, and express train.

Stansted Express

Stansted Express Train Services Stansted Express trains run from the station inside the terminal building, just 2-3 minutes walk from the arrivals hall. The express train is a non stop journey from the airport to Liverpool Street station in central London, taking just 45 minutes, with 4 trains running per hour. The last train runs from the airport at 23:35.

Tickets are available either at the airport or online at stanstedexpress.co.uk. The approximately cost for a single journey is £14.50 pounds for adults and £7.25 pounds for children.

Busses And Coaches

Easybus Van Buses and Coaches offer a number of routes to and from Stansted Airport. The most popular choices for tourist visitors are the National Express, Easybus and Terravision Express services to the city centre.

Easybus offers a bus service, direct to Baker Street, seven days a week. The service can be taken from airports coach station at the airport terminal and depending on the time of your journey, one way tickets can be as low as £2.00 pounds.
The National Express and Terravision coaches offer more comfort when compared to Easybus, and both offer more luggage capacity.

The National Express A6 service runs direct to Victoria Station in central London, via Marble Arch, Baker Street and Hyde Park Corner, 24 hours a day. The A9 service also offers connections to Trafalgar Square and Liverpool Street between 23:00 and 04:00. Tickets can be bought online at nationalexpress.co.uk or at the airport on arrival.

Terravision Express Airport Shuttle The Terravision Express Airport Shuttle A50 operates a non stop service to Victoria Station. You can board the coach from coach bay 26 and the journey will take around 75 minutes. Adult tickets cost £8 for a single journey and £14 for a return journey. Children have discounted ticket prices. Tickets can be purchased at the airport or online at lowcostcoach.co.uk. The A51 service also offered by Terravision Express, is a direct route to Liverpool Street, and offers similar ticket prices.

Taxis

Black Taxi Sign Taxis are available from the taxi rank, outside of the main terminal. There is an airport taxi desk in the main terminal, or a popular choice is premiertaxis.com which offers online and advance booking.
